چکیده

The OpenSees finite element software framework is extended for simulating fluid–structure interaction (FSI) by the particle finite element method (PFEM). At high levels of the framework, new classes handle meshing and interface detection of the fluid and structure domains and implement the fractional step method in order to solve the governing equations of linear momentum and mass conservation. At lower levels of the framework, new finite element and pressure constraint classes assemble fluid contributions to the global system of equations. Verification and validation examples are presented along with a demonstrative example of wave loading on a coastal structure modeled using geometrically nonlinear frame elements with material nonlinear fiber sections. The extension of OpenSees for FSI allows analysts to simulate the complex phenomena of wave loading on structural models as well as the response of these models to sequential natural hazards such as earthquake induced tsunamis. 2013 Elsevier Ltd. مدل‌سازی اجزای محدود برش ماده فولادی با جت آب دارای ذرات برنده

Numerical modeling of machining processes is of significance in the parametric analysis and optimization of their performance. In this paper, a finite element-based model of abrasive waterjet (AWJ) cutting of a ductile material is presented with the help of an explicit, nonlinear finite element method. In this model, both solid-solid interaction and fluid-structure interaction are considered. T...

Seismic Behavior and Dissipated Plastic Energy of Performance-Based-Designed High-Rise Concrete Structures with Considering Soil–Structure Interaction Effect

Since the structure and foundation are built on soil, the soil is the major platform by which seismic vibrations are transmitted to the structure, and has noticeable effects on the response and behavior of structure during earthquakes. In this research, the recently introduced Performance-based plastic design (PBPD) and its modified Performance-based plastic design (MPBPD) method in which soil ...

Investigation of Fluid-structure Interaction by Explicit Central Finite Difference Methods

Fluid-structure interaction (FSI) occurs when the dynamic water hammer forces; cause vibrations in the pipe wall. FSI in pipe systems due to Poisson and junction coupling has been the center of attention in recent years. It causes fluctuations in pressure heads and vibrations in the pipe wall. The governing equations of this phenomenon include a system of first order hyperbolic partial differen...

Volume-Filling Effects on Sloshing Frequency in Simplified and Explicit Dynamic Finite Element Models of Tank Wagons During Braking and Turning

Numerical analysis of fluid sloshing in tank wagons is amongst essential research ideas that are focused by railway engineers. The free surface of fluid becomes unstable and turns into a dynamic complex non-linear problem for fluid-structure interaction (FSI). In this paper, initially, the dynamic response of the tank, including lateral force analysis and pressure distribution during braking, i...
